The First Arena brings in concerts, comedians, tradeshows, and family events throughout the year. Harris Hill Park
Located on County Route 55a, Harris Hill Park is a scenic area operated by Chemung County. The park has a playground, picnic pavilions, swimming pools, barbecue grills, and a scenic overlook. There is also a recreation area operated by a private company with batting cages, mini-golf, go-karts, and more. Picnic Pavilions are available to reserve for large groups. The Chemung Basin River Trail Partnership (CBRTP) is a coalition of agencies and residents working together to make the river system accessible to all.
The Partnership formed in 1999 to develop a river trail system in the Chemung Valley and promote protection of the Chemung Basin. The Chemung Basin includes the Cohocton, Canisteo, Cowanesque, Tioga, and Chemung Rivers and various creeks in the area.
In addition to many valued community partners the CBRTP is part of a larger network throughout the Chesapeake Bay that offers continued support, guidance and collaboration.
Monthly Partnership meetings are open to the public and membership is free. For upcoming meeting dates, see our events listing.

On the night of Tuesday, June 15, a major structural beam in the Long Room broke, bringing the plank ceiling down with it. The failure was discovered early Wednesday morning. The c. 1830s Pennyslvania "barn frame" loom, built sturdily of square oak timbers, effectively stopped the ceiling and connecting beam (which came loose from its mortise when its partner failed) from crashing down. Everyone marveled at the good fortune that the loom was so placed—otherwise, the damage could have been much greater. The loom sustained no significant damage. The artifacts usually found in the original inn building (attic to basement) have been removed and are stored. The office, now in the meeting room, is open for business as usual.
