The concept of a Historic District for the entire Near Westside Neighborhood was first conceived in 1978.
After a period of more than 5 years, this concept became a reality. The U.S. Department of the Interior listed the Near Westside Neighborhood on the National Register of Historic Places as a Historic District, on December 22, 1983.
